The text below is an excerpt from Stanovnis"tvo Konavala, Vol. 2, Appendix B, entitled Matic"ne Knjige. This appendix lists the Matic"ne Knjige sources that were used to compile the book, which includes Matic"ne Knjige from most of the parishes around Dubrovnik. The geographical range is from the Peljes"ac peninsula to Konavle, including Dubrovnik.
This information is useful to genealogists because it gives the year-range and locations of many Matic"ne Knjige. At the end of this appendix, and in a following appendix (D), are given the meanings of the various abbreviations. For example: K = krs"teni (Christening); V = vjenc"ani = marriage; M = morte = death; SA = Status Animarum = Stanja Dus"a = Book of Souls. Appendix D explains other abbreviations; for example, AZ"UPnj = church archive at Postranje; AZ"UC = church archive at Cavtat, etc. (AZ"U = church archive, which is actually just the church office)
